Picture support by mickauf 25. Jun 2010 Thai Hi, first of all - thanks for the great work. I'm a German native speaker with good english skills and I would like to learn Thai. I also took a look to other systems. Most of them do not support Thai. However other systems do have some features I really liked and would like to see on flashcards.com also. One of the most interessting feature is the support for pictures for all words. This helps to learn new words faster/easier. The source for matching pictures could be flickr.com. The users can do the match for themself. I recommend to take a look to www.babbel.com how they do it. Is such a feature already planned? michael 1 Reply 1 new |

Sentences by schenoweth 10. Jun 2010 Dutch Hi again. Is is possible to make the English translation a mouse roll over feature like it is on the practice words? For example, when I see the sentence in Dutch I would prefer the English part underneath be hidden until I mouse over it. That way I am not "cheating" on how I am doing reading the sentence in Dutch. Bedankt!!! Doei 3 Replies 3 new |
Can you NOT show the right answer when practicing words? by raumgleiter 25. May 2010 Thai Maybe I just didn't see how to do this. When in practice mode, I see the Thai word big in the middle and the meaning is shown right next to it on the top right. Isn't there any way how to not have the meaning show up right next to the word? How do you effectively test yourself this way? 2 Replies 2 new |
review using romanisation by pauljstuart 6. Jun 2010 Thai Hi there, Great site, I like it a lot! I wanted to ask a question. When reviewing a word list, you are basically prompted by the written word in Thai, and the sound of the word, if any. Is it possible to prompt using the romanisation for the word instead? I recognise that it's probably better in the long run to push myself to read the Thai word and then ask myself what it means but, like a lot of people, my ability to hear Thai is better than my reading. Practice sentenses by jonnie 2. May 2010 Thai When practicing individual words I like the way you can reverse the flash card to test your ability to recall the vocab fully. It is such a shame you don't have this option when practicing sentences. Surely being able to translate a whole sentence from ENGLISH - THAI is a great way to test your ability to form grammatically correct sentences and thus overall speaking ability. Of course it is equally important to be able to translate from THAI - ENGLISH (which I use to test my listening). With this dual option this web site would be the ultimate language learning tool and I would surely renew my membership and recommend it to others. |

online talking Portuguese dictionaries? by lsloan0000 1. Apr 2010 Portuguese It seems that many of the English dictionaries available online have a feature to speak the word shown. Some use recordings and some use speech synthesis (computer voice). However, it's difficult to find any Portuguese dictionaries online that talk. I haven't found one yet. Besides the definitions available on portuguese-flashcards.com, can anybody direct me to an online talking Portuguese dictionary? I would like to compare them. I love this web site, but I think the online dictionaries will have more extensive definitions and include etymologies as well as more words. Thank you! 1 Reply 1 new |

Verb stem/suffix question by Hellraiser 3. Apr 2010 Korean I tried searching the forum, but found nothing. I'm new to Korean, and there's something that I don't understand. Example, "지 않습니다" is added after the verb stem to form a negative sentence. So, if I understand correctly, I can take the word "to study/learn - 배웁니다", kick out the suffix and make a negative word, "not to study", which I have no idea how to make (also, where does the stem end and the suffix start?). Or, alternatively, do I negate that by adding both words, like so: "배우 가지 않습니다", which, again, makes no sense at all. Like I said, I really can't figure it out. The reason that half of the word "배웁니다" is missing in the second example is because I don't know if I have to kick the suffix out and if so, where the verb stem ends and where the suffix starts. Can someone please help me out? 3 Replies 3 new |
