Add new sentence  by maverick   4. Jul 2008   German

Hey,

I was wondering why aren't you enabling users to add new sentences to the website's database as you are enabling it in the words section. Sometimes I'm having a problem with grasping a word's meaning and I go looking for a sentence online and I would much like to add these sentences so that others can fully grasp the meaning too. Great website, keep up the good work ;)

Maverick.

Adding new custom words  by sagejoel   11. Oct 2008   German

After you add a word, there could be a button that autoselects when you hit tab to allow you to quickly add another word without using the mouse to click on the link at the top.

Advanced and Very Advanced Words (for the Admin)  by stefano1488   29. Sept 2013   German

Good evening.

I have found this site very useful for the purpose of improving my German, in particular to broaden my vocabulary.

Since I have different lists according to their difficulty classification, I would gretly appreciate if there were the possibility to draw on separate lists of Advanced and Very Advanced words, instead of having them pooled together.

Plus, I am afraid there is a little bug: even if I remove or block a new word in a list, it often keeps repeating.

Finally, it would be great if there were the possibility of moving words in a list manually, so as to put two or more words that are similar near each other.

Thanks for your attention.

Thanks ! and a suggestion  by gfcds   22. Jun 2013   German

Thanks, this site really makes learning not only organized but fun. !

My only suggestion is I would like to see several levels of tests ( for fun to see what level) that incorporates the different levels of words and sentences so if for example, a person passes Test I then they passed the Basic level and so on.

I also really like the manage lists feature. :)

Words for HSK  by katsa   22. Apr 2013   Chinese

May I ask where the words needed for the HSK tests are located in the levels very basic - basic - intermediate - advanced - very advanced?

(like: 'very basic' covers HSK 1, 'basic' HSK 2 and so on?)

or is it possible to add the "topics" 'hsk1', 'hsk2', ... into the topic list?

Play Korean! - teaching Korean using K-pop launched yesterday!  by playkorean   27. Mar 2013   Korean

Please visit our YouTube channel! :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AagIuxKVjTc

Let's learn Korean with 'Play Korean!'.

The purpose of the project is to teach Korean language using Korean popular music (henceforth, K-pop), which is gaining in worldwide popularity.

This project primarily aims to develop new online Korean lessons based on well-known K-pop songs and help learners easily access the lessons on YouTube.

So for the project, the key term of the lessons is "enjoyable": the viewers of the lessons will be immersed in the lessons without knowing that they are actually learning Korean language and culture!

Sentence order Question  by scottmcll   16. Apr 2013   Dutch

Hallo!

One of my practice sentences is "In sommige landen wordt het getal 13 geassocieerd met pech." Would it be just as correct to order it as "In sommige landen wordt het getal 13 met pech geassocieerd." And, if not, why? (in het Engles, alsjeblieft.

Bedankt, Scott

Problems with using this site  by mb8649   28. Aug 2012   German

I am having problems with very slow loading pages and some pages don't load at all. The Topic Lists, Words by Level, and Manage Lists work very poorly or don't work at all. I am using a MacBook Pro with Safari browser. I have a fast cable Internet connection and don't have problems with other sites.

Am I doing something wrong on this site?

Problem adding new words  by Pingfa   7. Aug 2011   Chinese

Hello there. First of all, many thanks for this awesome site! Excuse me for not saying so earlier!

For some reason when I manually input new words on my mother's computer, it will fill in the simplified form and pinyin for me. When I add new words on my own computer, I have to do it all manually; and when I add in the simple form after pasting the traditional form, it will delete my last entry. So first I have to add the word with just traditional form first, then edit the word to put in the simple form.

I do have the latest version of flash player installed. I can't figure out what is causing it.

I need help t.t  by Minnism   15. Mar 2013   Korean

I have to present a translation of a paragraph from Don Quijote in korean and I'm not able to translate it. It's too way hard for me. So, can you guys help me? I need this untill tuesday. I will really apreciate it if you can translate it!

"In a village of La Mancha, the name of which I have no desire to call to mind, there lived not long since one of those gentlemen that keep a lance in the lance-rack, an old buckler, a lean hack, and a greyhound for coursing. An olla of rather more beef than mutton, a salad on most nights, scraps on Saturdays, lentils on Fridays, and a pigeon or so extra on Sundays, made away with three-quarters of his income. The rest of it went in a doublet of fine cloth and velvet breeches and shoes to match for holidays, while on week-days he made a brave figure in his best homespun. The age of this gentleman of ours was bordering on fifty; he was of a hardy habit, spare, gaunt-featured, a very early riser and a great sportsman.

zouden question  by scottmcll   28. Feb 2013   Dutch

One of my practice sentences is "We zouden elkaar voor de lunch treffen." And the translation given is "We had arranged to meet for lunch." I don't see how that is past tense. I would read that as "We should arrange to have lunch together." Can anyone clarify?

Cheers, Scott

Number of Loop Words (of the Main List): (0 - 100)  by NemoX   8. Mar 2013   Chinese

Number of Loop Words (of the Main List):
(0 - 100)

Number of Loop Sentences (of the Main List):
(0 - 100)

What does this mean?

I'd like to study thousands of words and sentences on this website (the best I've found after studying Chinese for a few years) I hope there is not some kind of restriction?

I now usually just click |5 minutes|1 day|5 days| etc.

a tiny bit of confusion on 'laufen'  by cacherylga   31. Dec 2009   German

Hello!

I'm learning German as fast as can be, and am using Germanflashcards.com in addition to Deutche Welle's website, Rosetta Stone, and in a month, a private tutor. (Currently living in Heidelberg - it's a bit of a sink-or-swim situation, having started from no German knowledge a month or two ago.)

There is confusion between my sources on what "laufen" means. Rosetta Stone says "laufan" means "to walk"...here, it means "to run", and my German/English dictionary as well as Google has both definitions down. ??? There is a clear physical difference between walking and running. I would have thought one word couldn't possibly mean both states. Is this one of the words that changes depending on what dialect you're speaking with?

thanks,
Cheryl

numpad implementation  by katsa   14. Dec 2012   Chinese

It seems I cannot use the numpad-numbers to get the words out of the loop,
so I have to use my right hand for 'return' (loop) and my left hand for 2/3/4 (1d/5d/14d) on the number-row.

could you make numpad-keys work as well, so I could use my right hand for both?

Has anyone been able to get audio on Android phone? I got an Android phone to practice when I'm away from the computer, but I haven't been able to get the audio to work. I did change and tried all of the audio playback format options, but nothing has worked for me. I used different web browsers, including Opera, Google Chrome and Dolphin. I think more and more people will be using mobile devices to study, so it would be good to enable this feature. I'm using a Samsung Duo.

Audio for Android?  by billrandle   25. Nov 2012   Portuguese

What a wonderful group of language learning websites you have! The mobile site works good for the flashcards. I'm a premium user, and I got an Android phone so I can practice when I'm away from the computer, but I haven't been able to get the audio to work. I did change and tried all of the audio playback format options, but nothing has worked for me. I used different web browsers, including Opera, Google Chrome and Dolphin. Has anyone been able to get audio on an Android phone? I tell all of my students and friends about the great Portuguese, Chinese, Thai, Spanish, French and Korean study sites. I think more and more people will be using mobile devices to study, so it would be good to enable this feature. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Duo Android phone.
