I'm totally new to learning traditional Chinese. Mainly my goal is to learn to read it. I've been learning at roughly the pace of 5-10 words a day for a couple months, and am curious if anybody else is in the same boat as me. I've learned 375 words thus far not counting obvious things such as numbers. Is this a good pace or should I be learning more or less? I feel like I have come a long way even in this short span, but on the other hand I still feel totally clueless at interpreting even the most basic phrases and sentences.

You have done very well indeed. One needs about 1000 words to read simple passages, and more than 2000 words to read newspapers. While you learn new words, also pay attention to the "bushou" or "radical" of the words. They are like the alphabets in English, except that there are 250 of them. However 80 are rarely used. So one needs to learn only 170. Get a good text explaining the bushous, and a good digital dictionary. I find the Besta TA-3000 helpful.
