Which should I do first?  by Ellito-Bandito   22. Aug 2010

I'm having trouble starting with my laguage and need it bad. I wanted to know whether to start with Italian or Spanish first. No matter what I'm doing both. I just want to know which one is easier. So Italian or Spanish?

Spanish is easier for me, even though I find Italian to be a more "singing" language :O) But maybe Italian is easier to hear and understand? I mostly write and read Spanish so far, so I guess it depends on how you will be needing it? Talking, writing, understanding... :O)

You need to be able to use the language in real situations. You'll be more motivated by your progress, and this motivation will in turn help you progress faster. There are obviously some differences in the language, but nothing significant enough to say one is "definitely" easier or harder than the other. The deciding factor will be whichever one is you're more motivated to learn. If you can use Spanish more often in a given day, or have more Spanish friends, or like Spanish TV, or are planning a trip to a Spanish country etc. Spanish is the way to go. Same goes for Italian.
