Confusing to have non-standard kana listed  by wupeiyu   8. Sept 2010

I still think that it is very confusing to have every word in both hiragana and katagana. Sometimes the correct kana version would be a mixture of the two, e.g. フランスジン or ドイツご。

When I use flashcards, I'd really prefer to visually memorize the correct version(s) only, and not see the non-standard version at all.

Otherwise, the site is great, especially the game.

I fully agree with wupeiyu. It is very odd to find the 'native Japanese' words written in Katagana and the imported and adapted words of foreign origin written in Hiragana.

So, my question to admin, could there be a solution to rectify this?

The solution would be just to ignore these. For some people it might still be useful.

As a beginner I do not know to ignore which one.
On top, as wupeiyu indicated, "sometimes the correct kana version would be a mixture of the two".
