The funeral

กาญจนา: หวัดดีวิทย์ เมื่อวานไปไหนมา?

Kanjana: Hi Wit, where were you yesterday?

วิทย์: ผมมาโรงเรียนไม่ได้เพราะไปงานศพของลุง

Wit: I couldn't come to school because I was at my uncle's funeral.

---

กาญจนา: เสียใจด้วยนะ แล้วเธอเป็นไงบ้าง?

Kanjana: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. How are you coping?

---

วิทย์: ผมว่าผมไม่เป็นไรนะ ผมไม่สนิทกับลุงเท่าไร

Wit: I'm doing okay I guess. I wasn't very close to him.

---

กาญจนา: อย่างนั้นหรือ? น่าเสียดายเนอะ

Kanjana: Really? That's a pity.

---

วิทย์: ใช่ แต่เขาไม่ค่อยได้มาหาเรา ถึงจะอยู่ใกล้ ๆ ก็เถอะ

Wit: Yes, but he hardly visited us, even though he lived close by.

กาญจนา: ทำไมล่ะ?

Kanjana: Oh why not?

---

วิทย์: ไม่แน่ใจเหมือนกัน หลังจากลุงเสีย พ่อผมก็เปรยว่าสงสัยพี่ชายที่เสียไปจะไม่ชอบเขาสักเท่าไร แต่ผมคิดว่าลุงเองก็คงยุ่งอยู่กับเพื่อนนะ เพราะมีคนมาร่วมงานเต็มเลย

Wit: Not sure. After he died my father expressed doubt that his late brother liked him much. I also think he was busy with his own friends, because there were a lot of people at the funeral!
