สุวิทย์: ไม่ค่อยดีเท่าไหร่ เดือนที่แล้วเพิ่งรู้ว่าลูกชายผมเป็นเบาหวาน

Suwit: Oh, not so good. One month ago my son was diagnosed with diabetes.

โอภาส: เสียใจด้วยนะ เขาอายุเท่าไหร่หรือ?

Ophat: Sorry to hear that. How old is he?

สุวิทย์: 12 ขวบ

Suwit: He is 12.

---

โอภาส: ลูกพี่ลูกน้องผมก็เป็นเบาหวาน แต่ว่าเขาอายุมากกว่า 40 แล้ว และก็น้ำหนักเกินด้วย

Ophat: My cousin has diabetes. But he is over 40 and overweight.

สุวิทย์: ลูกผมเป็นเบาหวานชนิดที่ 1 ลูกพี่ลูกน้องของคุณอาจเป็นเบาหวานชนิดที่ 2

Suwit: My son has type 1 diabetes. Your cousin probably has type 2 diabetes.

โอภาส: จริงด้วย แล้วมันต่างกันยังไงหรือ?

Ophat: Right. And what is the difference?

---

สุวิทย์: ก็เบาหวานชนิดที่ 1 ไม่เกี่ยวกับการไม่ออกกำลังกาย แต่เป็นโรคภูมิต้านตนเอง

Suwit: Well, type 1 diabetes has nothing to do with lack of exercise. It is an autoimmune disease.

Ophat: So basically just bad luck?

สุวิทย์: ใช่ ตอนนี้ผมกำลังหาวิธีช่วยให้ลูกอาการดีขึ้น

Suwit: Yes. Right now I'm focusing on helping my son get better.
