The new scam

David: Acabou de acontecer uma coisa tão engraçada comigo.
David: So funny what just happened to me.
Dan: O que aconteceu?
Dan: What happened?
David: Bom, eu entrei no Gumtree.com para procurar um apartamento. Tinha um apartamento super barato disponível em uma região bem central. Então eu mandei um email para o anunciante e perguntei se o apartamento ainda estava disponível.
David: Well, I went to Gumtree.com to look for a flat. There was a really cheap flat in a very central location available. So I emailed the guy and asked if the flat is still available.
Dan: Aposto que era golpe.
Dan: I bet it was a scam.
David: Sim, exatamente. Ele me disse que morava no exterior e que precisava comprar uma passagem de avião para me mostrar o apartamento. Ele disse que havia perdido tempo com possíveis locatários antes de mim e portanto precisava de um depósito antecipado antes de me mostrar o apartamento.
David: Yes exactly. He told me that he lives abroad and needs to buy a plane ticket to show me the flat. He said he had wasted time with previous potential tenants and therefore needs a deposit up front before showing me the flat.
Dan: Até parece! E ele queria receber o depósito por "Western Union", né?
Dan: Yeah right! And he wanted that deposit through "Western Union" right?
David: Sim! É impossível recuperar o dinheiro quando se paga por "Western Union".
David: Yep! There's no way to get the money back if you pay through "Western Union".
Dan: Imagino se alguém já caiu nesse golpe.
Dan: I wonder if people really fall for this scam.
