Beth: Oi Martin. Como foi a escola?
Beth: Hi Martin. How was school?
Martin: Ah, foi ótima. A aula de história foi muito interessante.
Martin: Oh, it was great. The history lesson was very interesting.
Beth: Mesmo? Qual era o assunto?
Beth: Really? What did you learn?
Martin: Aprendemos sobre o "Grande incêndio de Londres". Ele destruiu quatro quintos de Londres em 1666.
Martin: We learned about the "Great Fire of London". It destroyed four fifths of London in 1666.
Beth: Isso é horrível!
Beth: That's horrible!
Martin: Na verdade ele salvou mais vidas do que matou.
Martin: It actually saved more people's lives than it killed.
Beth: Como isso é possível?
Beth: How is that possible?
Martin: O fogo matou muitos ratos que ajudavam na transmissão da peste. O número de vítimas da peste caiu rapidamente após o incêndio.
Martin: The fire killed a lot of rats which helped to transmit the plague. Plague victims dropped rapidly after the fire.
Beth: Isso é interessante. Você aprende muito na escola!
Beth: That's interesting. You learn a lot in school!
Martin: Sim, aprendo!
Martin: Yes, I do!
