The atheist
ある若い女性が、悲しそうな顔をして帰宅しました。
A young woman came home looking sad.
彼女は母親に言いました。「真之が今日プロポーズしてくれたの。」
She told her mother, "Masayuki proposed to me today."
「じゃあ、なんでそんな悲しそうな顔をしてるの？」と母親は尋ねました。
"Then why are you so sad?" her mother asked.
「だって、彼、自分は無神論者だって言うのよ。お母さん、彼、地獄の存在を信じてないのよ！」
"Because he also mentioned he was an atheist. Mom, he doesn't believe there's hell!"
母親は答えました。「いずれにせよ、彼と結婚しちゃいなさい！ 彼がどれだけ間違ってるか、一緒に彼に証明してやりましょう！」
Her mother replied, "Marry him anyway! Together we'll show him how wrong he is!"
