The expensive psychiatrist

ある男性が精神科医に会いに行き、こう言いました。「困ってるんです。ベッドに入るたびに、下に誰かがいるような気がするんです。頭がおかしくなりそうです!」

A man went to a psychiatrist and said: "I've got a problem. Every time I get into bed I think there is somebody under it. I'm going crazy!"

「私が力になりますよ。」と精神科医は言いました。「週に2回いらしてください。」

"I can help you," said the psychiatrist. "Come to me two times a week."

「おいくらになりますか?」

"How much do you charge?"

---

「1セッションにつき、1万円です。」

"A hundred dollars per session."

---

「分かりました、考えさせてください。」

"Okay, let me think about it."

その男性が戻ってくることはありませんでした。2ヶ月後、男性は精神科医に道でばったり出会いました。

The man never went back. A few months later he met the psychiatrist in the street.

「どうして私に会いにいらっしゃらなかったのですか?」と精神科医は尋ねました。

"Why didn't you ever come to see me again?", asked the psychiatrist.

「1セッションにつき1万円でしょう?　友達が無料で治してくれたんですよ!」

"For one hundred dollars a session? My friend cured me for free!"

「どうやって?」

"How?"

---

「ベッドの足を切ればいい、って!」

"He told me to cut the legs off the bed!"
