The funeral
Annette: Ciao, Pete. Ho sentito che è morta tua nonna.
Annette: Hi Pete. I've heard your grandmother passed away.
Pete: Ciao, Annette. Sì, è vero.
Pete: Hi Annette. Yes that's true.
Annette: Condoglianze! Quando era il funerale?
Annette: My condolences! When was the funeral?
Pete: Era lunedì.
Pete: It was on Monday.
Annette: Capisco. Odio i funerali, ma almeno rivedi alcuni parenti.
Annette: I see. I hate funerals, but at least you see some relatives again.
Pete: Sì, c'era un sacco di gente. Molti di loro non li conoscevo neanche.
Pete: Yes, there were a lot of people. Many of them I didn't even know.
Annette: Com'era il panegirico?
Annette: How was the eulogy?
Pete: Lo sai, il solito. C'è stato un momento divertente, però. All'improvviso, a metà panegirico, un telefonino ha cominciato a suonare con la musica di "Mission Impossible". La situazione era così divertente che sono quasi scoppiato a ridere.
Pete: You know the usual. There was a funny moment though. Suddenly, in the middle of the eulogy, a cell phone started ringing with the "Mission Impossible" theme. The whole thing was so funny that I almost laughed out loud.
Annette: Ah, ah, davvero divertente. Il proprietario del telefonino sarà stato molto imbarazzato!
Annette: Haha, that's funny. The owner of the cell phone must have been embarrassed!
Pete: Sì, se ne è andato in fretta e, per quanto ne so, non è più tornato.
Pete: Yeah, he quickly left and didn't come back as far as I know.
Annette: Mio zio celebra funerali e ha detto che succede molto spesso.
Annette: My uncle is a funeral celebrant and he said this happens very often.
Pete: Immagino.
Pete: I can imagine.
Annette: Sì. Ogni volta mi racconta strane storie. Disse che una volta un tipo ha richiesto che suonassero "Highway to Hell" degli AC/DC al suo funerale.
Annette: Yes. Every time he tells me some crazy story. He said once a guy requested that they play "Highway to Hell" from AC/DC at his funeral.
Pete: Ah, ah. Si chiama umorismo nero. Ok, adesso devo andare. A presto!
Pete: Haha. That's called black humor. OK, I got to go now. See you!
Annette: Ciao!
Annette: Bye!
