The Italian demonstrative pronoun

Ciò is an invariable demonstrative pronoun used to refer to an object, meaning “this thing” or “that thing”.
It is mostly used with the relative pronoun che, functioning both as a subject and as a complement of a verb.
 
Examples:
 
- Ciò non significa che non ti voglia bene / This doesn’t mean that I don’t love you
- Ho letto ciò che hai scritto / I’ve read what you wrote
- Dovresti vergognarti di ciò che hai detto / You should be ashamed of what you said
- Davvero vuoi vedermi, dopo tutto ciò che è successo? / Do you really want to see me after all that has happened?
 
Some expressions:
 
- Detto ciò, – ciò detto / So what?
- E con ciò? / So what?
- Fa’ ciò che preferisci / Do what you like
- Con tutto ciò / despite all that
- Ciò nondimeno – ciò nonostante / Nevertheless – nonetheless
- Oltre a ciò / Moreover – furthermore
- Per ciò / therefore
