Two people who haven't met before chat at a party.
Shaun: Hallo. Ich glaube wir kennen uns noch nicht. Bist du ein Freund von Mike?
Shaun: Hi there. I believe we haven't met before. Are you a friend of Mike?
Anna: Nein, wir kennen uns noch nicht. Ja, ich bin ein Freund von Mike.
Anna: No, we haven't met before. Yes, I'm one of Mike's friends.
Shaun: Woher kennst du ihn?
Shaun: How do you know him?
Anna: Ich habe ihn in Albanien das erste Mal getroffen, als ich dort ehrenamtlich gearbeitet habe.
Anna: I met him in Albania (the first time), while I was doing volunteer work there.
Shaun: Wirklich? Wie lange warst du dort?
Shaun: Really? How long were you there?
Anna: Ungefähr ein Jahr.
Anna: About 1 year.
Shaun: Hat dir die Arbeit dort Spaß gemacht?
Shaun: Did you enjoy your work there?
Anna: Ja, es war interessant. Die Leute sind so freundlich und das Land ist sehr schön. Andererseits gibt es dort viele Stromausfälle und andere Probleme. Es ist kein sehr modernes Land, muss man leider sagen.
Anna: Yes, it was very interesting. People are so friendly and the country is beautiful. On the other hand there were a lot of power cuts and other problems. It isn't a very modern country I must say.
Shaun: Ich schätze es ist ein Erlebnis, welches du nicht so schnell vergessen wirst.
Shaun: I guess it's an experience you won't forget soon.
