At the funfair

"Mutti, Mutti, kann ich auf das Riesenrad?"

"Mummy, Mummy, can I go on the big wheel?"
"Oh, ich weiss nicht, Schatz, du bist etwas jung dafür. Glaubst du nicht, dass du Angst hast wenn du da ganz oben bist?"

"Oh I don't know, darling, you're a little young for that. Don't you think you'll get scared when you're all the way up there?"
"Ich werde keine Angst haben, Mutti."

"I won't get scared, Mummy."
"Wirklich? Wie war das gestern, als du einen Albtraum hattest? Du musstest in meinem Bett schlafen, weil du so Angst hattest."

"Really? What about yesterday, when you had a nightmare? You had to sleep in my bed, because you were so scared."
"Das war doch was ganz anderes. In meinem Albtraum waren Monster. Sehr böse Monster."

"That was totally different. There were monsters in my nightmare. Very bad monsters."
"Verstehe. Nun, wenn du wirklich auf das Riesenrad willst, dann musst du mir versprechen für den Rest des Tages ein braver Bub zu sein."

"I see. Well, if you really want to go on the big wheel, then you have to promise to be a good boy for the rest of the day."
"Ja Mutti, versprochen!"

"OK Mummy, I promise!"
"Na gut. Kaufen wir zwei Tickets. Und vergiss nicht dein Versprechen."

"All right then. Let's go buy two tickets. And don't forget your promise."
"Das werde ich nicht. Ich hab dich lieb, Mutti."

"I won't, Mummy. I love you, Mummy."
"Ich habe dich auch lieb, mein Schatz."

"I love you too, darling."
