Ian a organisé une fête pour ses 30 ans et invité tous ses amis.
Ian has organized a party for his 30th birthday and invited all his friends.
Sally et Eddie se rencontrent pour la première fois et parlent de leur travail.
Sally and Eddie meet the first time and talk about their jobs.
Eddie : Comment connais-tu Ian ?
Eddie: How do you know Ian?
Sally : Je travaille dans la même entreprise.
Sally: I work at the same company.
Eddie : Je vois. Qu'y fais-tu exactement ?
Eddie: I see. What exactly do you do there?
Sally : En fait, j'y travaille comme secrétaire. Et quel est ton travail ?
Sally: Basically I work there as a secretary. And what is your job?
Eddie : J'ai travaillé comme maître-nageur sauveteur en Australie. Mais maintenant, je travaille dans un pub ici à Londres.
Eddie: I've worked as a lifeguard in Australia. But now I'm working in a pub here in London.
Sally : Pourquoi as-tu renoncé à un travail aussi sympa ? Juste se relaxer sur la plage toute la journée.
Sally: Why did you give up such a cool job? Just chilling out on the beach all day.
Eddie : Ce n'est pas si relaxant que ça ! On a beaucoup de responsabilité.
Eddie: It's not really relaxing! You have a lot of responsibility.
Sally : Ah bon ?
Sally: Really?
Eddie : Parfois, ça peut être très stressant. Une personne qui se noie ne se comporte pas comme dans les films hollywoodiens.
Eddie: At times it can be quite stressful. A drowning person doesn't act as in Hollywood movies.
Sally : Je vois.
Sally: I see.
Eddie : Normalement, une personne qui se noie n'a plus d'énergie pour appeler à l'aide ou faire signe. Alors il faut toujours être vigilant.
Eddie: Normally a drowning person doesn't have the energy anymore to call for help or wave. So you always need to be alert.
Sally : Je vois. Alors tu préfères travailler dans un pub ?
Sally: I see. So you prefer working in a pub?
Eddie : Ça peut être stressant aussi, mais je voulais faire quelque chose de différent pendant un moment.
Eddie: It can be stressful too, but I wanted to do something different for a while.
Sally : Dans quel pub travailles-tu ?
Sally: In which pub are you working?
Eddie : C'est un pub au centre de Londres près de Leicester Square.
Eddie: It's a pub in central London near Leicester Square.
Eddie écrit l'adresse du pub et Sally promet de passer.
Eddie writes down the address of the pub and Sally promises to drop by.
