Jack : Bonjour, papa ! Comment vas-tu ?
Jack: Hi, Dad! How are you?
Le père de Jack : Pas très bien. Quoi que tu fasses à l'avenir, ne vieillis pas !
Jack's father: Not so good. Whatever you do in the future, don't get old!
Jack : Je garderai ça à l'esprit. Bref, allons-y !
Jack: I'll keep that in mind. Anyway let's go!
(Jack et son père montent dans la voiture et commencent à rouler.)

Jack : Ça fait vingt ans que maman...

Le père de Jack : Je sais, je n'arrive pas à y croire.

Jack : Ce jour-là, avant qu'elle ne monte en voiture, je l'ai arrêtée pour lui dire combien je l'aimais.
Jack: On that day before she got in the car I stopped her to tell her how much I love her.
Le père de Jack : C'est vrai ? Tu ne me l'avais jamais dit.
Jack's father: Really? You never told me this.
Jack : Je n'arrête pas de penser que si je ne l'avais pas fait, elle serait partie un peu plus tôt, et peut-être...
Jack: I keep thinking if I hadn't done that, she would have left a bit earlier and maybe ...
Le père de Jack : Ça ne sert à rien de s'éterniser là-dessus. Je suis content que tu aies dit à ta mère que tu l'aimais.
Jack's father: There's no point dwelling on that. I'm glad you told your mom you love her.
Jack : Ça me surprend, parfois. À quel point la vie est aléatoire et comme de petits détails peuvent complètement changer la vie.
Jack: This sometimes amazes me. How random life is and how small details can completely change your life.
(Ils roulent en silence jusqu'à ce qu'ils arrivent. Jack gare la voiture et ils descendent.)
(They drive in silence until they arrive. Jack parks the car and they get out.)
Jack : Oh, du soleil ! Comme c'est agréable !
Jack: Oh, sunshine! How nice!
Le père de Jack : Oui, c'est agréable.
Jack's father: Yes, it's nice.
Jack : J'ai acheté des fleurs pour maman.
Jack: I bought some flowers for Mom.
Le père de Jack : Bien, mais le cerf va les manger.
Jack's father: Good, but the deer will eat them.
(Ils marchent un moment.)
(They walk for a while.)
Jack : On est arrivés.
Jack: Here we are.
(Ils restent debout en silence. Jack finit par mettre les fleurs sur la tombe de sa mère.)
