The funeral
Annette : Salut, Pete. J'ai appris que ta grand-mère était décédée.
Annette: Hi, Pete. I've heard your grandmother passed away.
Pete : Salut, Annette. Oui, c'est vrai.
Pete: Hi, Annette. Yes, that's true.
Annette : Mes condoléances ! Quand l'enterrement a-t-il eu lieu ?
Annette: My condolences! When was the funeral?
Pete : C'était lundi.
Pete: It was on Monday.
Annette : Je vois. Je déteste les enterrements, mais au moins, on revoit de la famille.
Annette: I see. I hate funerals, but at least you see some relatives again.
Pete : Oui, il y avait beaucoup de gens. Il y en avait beaucoup que je ne connaissais même pas.
Pete: Yes, there were a lot of people. Many of them I didn't even know.
Annette : Comment était l'éloge funèbre ?
Annette: How was the eulogy?
Pete : Tu sais, comme d'habitude. Mais il y a eu un moment marrant. Tout à coup, au milieu de l'éloge funèbre, le téléphone portable d'un type a commencé à sonner avec la musique de "Mission Impossible". C'était si drôle que j'ai failli rire tout haut.
Pete: You know, the usual. There was a funny moment though. Suddenly, in the middle of the eulogy, a guy's cell phone started ringing with the "Mission Impossible" theme. The whole thing was so funny that I almost laughed out loud.
Annette : Haha, c'est drôle. Il a dû être gêné !
Annette: Haha, funny that. He must have been embarrassed!
Pete : Oui, il est vite parti et il n'est pas revenu, à ce que je sache.
Pete: Yeah, he quickly left and didn't come back as far as I know.
Annette : Le mari de ma tante est orateur funèbre et il a dit que ça arrivait sans cesse.
Annette: My auntie's husband is a funeral speaker and he said this happens all the time.
Pete : J'imagine.
Pete: I can imagine.
Annette : Oui. Il me raconte chaque fois des histoires dingues. Il a dit qu'une fois, un type a demandé qu'on joue "Highway to Hell" d'AC/DC à son enterrement.
Annette: Yes. Every time he tells me some crazy story. He said once a guy requested that they play "Highway to Hell" from AC/DC at his funeral.
Pete : Haha. C'est de l'humour noir. Bien, je dois partir. A bientôt !
Pete: Haha. That's called black humor. OK, I got to go now. See you!
Annette : Salut !
Annette: Bye!
