The funeral
Anna : Salut, William ! Où étais-tu hier ?
Anna: Hi William, where were you yesterday?
William : Je n'ai pas pu venir à l'école parce que je suis allé à l'enterrement de mon oncle.
William: I couldn't come to school because I was at my uncle's funeral.
Anna : Oh, j'en suis désolée. Comment t'en sors-tu ?
Anna: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. How are you coping?
William : Je crois que je vais bien. Je n'étais pas très proche de lui.
William: I'm doing okay I guess. I wasn't very close to him.
Anna : Vraiment ? C'est dommage.
Anna: Really? That's a pity.
William : Oui, mais il ne nous rendait presque jamais visite et, pourtant, il habitait près de chez nous.
William: Yes, but he hardly visited us, even though he lived close by.
Anna : Oh, pourquoi ?
Anna: Oh why not?
William : Je n'en suis pas sûr. Après sa mort, mon père a dit qu'il pensait que son frère ne l'aimait pas beaucoup. Je pense aussi qu'il s'occupait plus de ses amis parce qu'il y avait beaucoup de monde à son enterrement !
William: Not sure. After he died my father expressed doubt that his late brother liked him much. I also think he was busy with his own friends, because there were a lot of people at the funeral!
Anna : Eh bien, voilà qui en dit long !
Anna: Well, that explains a lot!
