It was a disastrous year for the farmers.
Es war ein verheerendes Jahr für die Bauern.
The snow fell and fell until the government had to step in and help.
Der Schnee fiel und fiel bis die Regierung einschreiten musste und half.
"It must have been terrible," said the man from the government to a farmer. "All that snow."
"Das muss furchtbar gewesen sein", sagte der Regierungsbeamte zum Bauern. "Dieser ganze Schnee."
"Could have been worse. My neighbour had more snow than I," answered the farmer calmly.
"Hätte schlimmer sein können. Mein Nachbar hatte mehr Schnee als ich.", antwortete der Bauer ruhig.
"How's that?" asked the government man.
"Wie kommt das?", fragte der Regierungsbeamte.
"More land," replied the farmer.
"Mehr Grundstücke", antwortete der Bauer.
