At the funfair

"Mama, mama, mag ik in het reuzenrad?"

"Mummy, Mummy, can I go on the big wheel?"
"Oh, ik weet het niet, schatje, je bent nog een beetje te jong. Denk je niet dat je bang wordt als je helemaal bovenaan bent?"

"Oh I don't know, darling, you're a little young for that. Don't you think you'll get scared when you're all the way up there?"
"Ik wordt nooit bang, mama."

"I never get scared, Mummy."
"Echt? En laatst dan, toen je een nachtmerrie had? Je zei dat je bang was en dat je bij mij in bed moest slapen."

"Really? What about the other night, when you had a nightmare? You said that you were scared, and that you had to sleep in my bed."
"Dat was anders. Er waren monsters in mijn nachtmerrie. Hele enge monsters."

"That was different. There were monsters in my nightmare. Very bad monsters."
"Ik begrijp het. Nou, als je echt in het reuzenrad wil, moet je me beloven de rest van de dag lief te zijn."

"I see. Well, if you really want to go on the big wheel, then you have to promise to be a good boy for the rest of the day."
"Oké mama, dat beloof ik."

"OK Mummy, I promise."
"Goed dan. We gaan twee kaartjes kopen. En vergeet niet wat je beloofd hebt."

"All right then. Let's go buy two tickets. And don't forget your promise."
"Nee, mama. Ik vind je lief, mama."

"I won't, Mummy. I love you, Mummy."
"Ik vind jou ook lief, schat."

"I love you too, darling."
