The funeral
Annette: ¡Hola, Pete! He oído que tu abuela ha muerto.
Annette: Hi Pete. I've heard your grandmother passed away.
Pete: ¡Hola, Annette! Sí, es verdad.
Pete: Hi Annette. Yes that's true.
Annette: ¡Mis condolencias! ¿Cuándo fue el funeral?
Annette: My condolences! When was the funeral?
Pete: Fue el lunes.
Pete: It was on Monday.
Annette: Ya veo. Odio los funerales, pero por lo menos vuelves a ver a algunos familiares.
Annette: I see. I hate funerals, but at least you see some relatives again.
Pete: Sí, había mucha gente. A muchos de ellos ni siquiera les conocía.
Pete: Yes, there were a lot of people. Many of them I didn't even know.
Annette: ¿Cómo fue el panegírico?
Annette: How was the eulogy?
Pete: Ya sabes, lo normal. Aunque hubo un momento divertido. De repente, en mitad del panegírico, el móvil de alguien empezó a sonar con el tema de "Misión Imposible". Todo fue tan gracioso que casi me río a carcajadas.
Pete: You know the usual. There was a funny moment though. Suddenly, in the middle of the eulogy, someone's cell phone started ringing with the "Mission Impossible" theme. The whole thing was so funny that I almost laughed out loud.
Annette: Jaja, qué divertido. ¡Seguro que le dio vergüenza!
Annette: Haha, funny that. He must have been embarrassed!
Pete: Sí, se fue rápidamente y no volvió que yo sepa.
Pete: Yeah, he quickly left and didn't come back as far as I know.
Annette: El marido de mi tía celebra funerales (orador de funerales) y me ha dicho que eso siempre pasa.
Annette: My auntie's husband is a funeral celebrant (funeral speaker) and he said this happens all the time.
Pete: Me lo imagino.
Pete: I can imagine.
Annette: Sí. Siempre me cuenta alguna historia loca. Una vez me dijo que un tío le pidió que tocara "Highway to Hell" de AC/DC en su funeral.
Annette: Yes. Every time he tells me some crazy story. He said once a guy requested that they play "Highway to Hell" from AC/DC at his funeral.
Pete: Jaja. Eso se llama sentido del humor. Vale, ahora tengo que irme. ¡Nos vemos!
Pete: Haha. That's called sense of humor. OK, I got to go now. See you!
Annette: ¡Adiós!
Annette: Bye!
