The funeral

Anna: Hola, William. ¿Dónde estuviste ayer?

Anna: Hi William, where were you yesterday?
William: No pude ir al colegio porque estuve en el funeral de mi tío.

William: I couldn't come to school because I was at my uncle's funeral.
Anna: Oh, siento oír eso. ¿Cómo lo estás sobrellevando?

Anna: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. How are you coping?
William: Estoy bien, supongo. No estaba muy unido a él.

William: I'm doing okay I guess. I wasn't very close to him.
Anna: ¿En serio? Eso es una pena.

Anna: Really? That's a pity.
William: Sí, pero él casi nunca nos visitaba, aunque vivía cerca.

William: Yes, but he hardly visited us, even though he lived close by.
Anna: Oh, ¿por qué no?

Anna: Oh why not?
William: No estoy seguro. Después de que muriera, mi padre expresó sus dudas sobre si su difunto hermano le quería mucho. Yo también creo que estaba ocupado con sus propios amigos, porque había mucha gente en el funeral.

William: Not sure. After he died my father expressed doubt that his late brother liked him much. I also think he was busy with his own friends, because there were a lot of people at the funeral!
Anna: Bueno, ¡eso lo explica todo!

Anna: Well, that explains a lot!
