More snow
Это был ужасный год для фермеров.
It was a horrible year for the farmers.
Снег падал и падал, поэтому правительству пришлось вмешаться и помочь.
The snow fell and fell, so the government had to step in and help.
"Это, наверное, ужасно", - сказал государственный служащий фермеру. "Весь этот снег!"
"It must have been terrible," said the government official to a farmer. "All that snow!"
"Могло бы быть хуже. У моего соседа ещё больше снега, чем у меня", - спокойно отвечал фермер.
"Could have been worse. My neighbor had more snow than I," answered the farmer calmly.
"Почему?" - спросил государственный служащий.
"How come?" asked the government official.
"Больше земли", - ответил фермер.
"More land," replied the farmer.
