Нина: "Где вы работаете?"

Nina: Where do you work?

Сергей: "Я - полицейский."

Sergey: I'm a police officer.

Нина: "Неужели? Как интересно!"

Nina: Really? How exciting!

Сергей: "Не совсем. Очень много бумажной работы."

Sergey: Not really. There is a lot of paperwork to do.

Нина: "Как давно вы работаете полицейским?"

Nina: How long have you been a police officer?

---

Сергей: "Более двадцати лет."

Sergey: More than 20 years.

---

Нина: "Это долгий срок. Изменила ли ваша работа вас лично?"

Nina: That's a long time. Has your job changed you personally?

Сергей: "Да. Я теперь умеренно употребляю алкоголь, потому что я видел, как многие человеческие жизни были сломаны из-за него."

Sergey: Yes. I drink alcohol in moderation now, because I've seen how many people's lives have been destroyed because of it.

Нина: "Так ужасно?"

Nina: So bad?

---

Сергей: "Да, к сожалению! Вероятно, полицейский состав можно было бы сократить вдвое, если бы не алкоголь."

Sergey: Yes, unfortunately! You probably could cut the police force by half if it weren't for alcohol.

Нина: "Тогда я закажу безалкогольный коктейль!"

Nina: I get the non-alcoholic cocktail then!

---

Сергей: "Правильное решение!"

Sergey: Good decision!
