The funeral

Нина: "Привет, Олег, ты где вчера был?"

Nina: Hi Oleg, where were you yesterday?

Олег: "Я не смог прийти на работу, потому что был на похоронах дяди."

Oleg: I couldn't come to work because I've been to my uncle's funeral.

Нина: "Ой, мне очень жаль. Как ты справляешься с горем?"

Nina: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. How are you coping with your grief?

Олег: "Да нормально, я думаю. Мы не были с ним очень близки."

Oleg: I'm doing okay I guess. We were not very close with him."

Нина: "Неужели? Жаль."

Nina: Really? That's a pity.

---

Олег: "Да, он почти никогда не бывал у нас, при том что мы жили рядом."

Oleg: Yes, but he hardly visited us, even though he lived close by.

Нина: "А почему?"

Nina: Why not?

---

Олег: "Не уверен. После того, как он умер, мой папа высказал сомнение в том, что покойный брат любил его. Я также думаю, что он охотнее общался со своими друзьями, потому что на похоронах было много народу!"

Oleg: Not sure. After he died my father expressed doubt that his late brother loved him. I also think he had rather socialized with his friends, because there were a lot of people at the funeral!
