The new scam

David: 방금 나한테 정말 웃긴 일이 있었어.

David: So funny what just happened to me.

Dan: 뭔데?

Dan: What happened?

David: 아파트 찾아보려고 Gumtree.com에 들어갔어. 중심지에 위치한 정말 싼 아파트가 있길래 그 사람한테 아직도 그 아파트 입주 가능하냐고 이메일 보냈다.

David: Well, I went to Gumtree.com to look for a flat. There was a really cheap flat in a very central location available. So I emailed the guy and asked if the flat is still available.

Dan: 사기였구나.

Dan: I bet it was a scam.

---

David: 어. 그 사람이 해외에 살고 있으니까 아파트를 보여주려면 비행기표를 사야 한다는 거야. 지난번에 집을 알아보던 사람이랑 시간을 낭비해서 이번에는 선금을 내야 아파트를 보여주겠대.

David: Yes exactly. He told me that he lives abroad and needs to buy a plane ticket to show me the flat. He said he had wasted time with previous potential tenants and therefore needs a deposit up front before showing me the flat.

Dan: 그렇겠지! 그리고 "Western Union" 으로 입금하라고 했지?

Dan: Yeah right! And he wanted that deposit through "Western Union" right?

David: 어! "Western Union"로 입금하면 돈 다시 돌려 받을 수 없잖아.

David: Yep! There's no way to get the money back if you pay through "Western Union".

Dan: 사람들이 진짜 이런 사기에 넘어갈까?
