The randomness of life
Jack va alla casa di riposo di suo padre in macchina.
Jack drives to his dad's nursing home.
Jack: Ciao, papà! Come stai?
Jack: Hi Dad! How are you?
Padre di Jack: Non benissimo. Qualunque cosa tu faccia in futuro, non invecchiare!
Jack's father: Not so good. Whatever you do in the future, don't get old!
Jack: Lo terrò a mente. Comunque, andiamo!
Jack: I'll keep that in mind. Anyway let's go!
Jack e suo padre salgono in macchina e partono.
Jack and his father get in the car and start driving.
Jack: Sono passati vent'anni da quando la mamma...
Jack: It's been twenty years since Mom ...
Padre di Jack: Lo so, incredibile.
Jack's father: I know, I can't believe it.
Jack: Quel giorno, prima che salisse in macchina, l'ho fermata per dirle che le volevo molto bene.
Jack: On that day before she got in the car I stopped her to tell her how much I love her.
Padre di Jack: Davvero? Non me lo avevi mai detto.
Jack's father: Really? You never told me this.
Jack: Continuo a pensare che se non lo avessi fatto, sarebbe partita un po' prima e forse...
Jack: I keep thinking if I hadn't done that, she would have left a bit earlier and maybe ...
Padre di Jack: Non ha senso rimuginarci sopra. Sono contento che tu le abbia detto che le volevi bene.
Jack's father: There's no point dwelling on that. I'm glad you told your mom you love her.
Jack: La cosa a volte mi sorprende. Com'è strana la vita e come i minimi dettagli possono cambiare completamente la tua vita.
Jack: This sometimes amazes me. How random life is and how small details can completely change your life.
Guidano in silenzio fino all'arrivo. Jack parcheggia la macchina e poi scendono.
They drive in silence until they arrive. Jack parks the car and they get out.
Jack: Oh, il sole! Che bello!
Jack: Oh, sunshine! How nice!
Padre di Jack: Sì, è bello.
Jack's father: Yes, it's nice.
Jack: Ho portato dei fiori per la mamma.
Jack: I bought some flowers for Mom.
Padre di Jack: Bene, ma li mangeranno i cervi.
Jack's father: Good, but the deer will eat them.
Camminano per un po'.
They walk for a while.
Jack: Eccoci.
Jack: Here we are.
Rimangono in silenzio. Infine Jack posa i fiori sulla tomba di sua madre.
They stand in silence. Finally Jack put the flowers on his mother's grave.
