The birthday party

(I genitori di Tom stanno facendo colazione. Tom entra in cucina.)

(Tom's parents are having breakfast. Tom enters the kitchen.)
Madre di Tom: Buongiorno Tom! È quasi mezzogiorno! A che ora sei tornato dalla festa?

Tom's mother: Good morning Tom! It's almost midday! When did you get back from the party?
Tom: Non sono sicuro. Penso attorno alle 2 di mattina. Era una festa fantastica.

Tom: I'm not sure. I think about 2 a.m. It was a great party.
Padre di Tom: Quando ero ragazzo, dovevo tornare a casa prima di mezzanotte.

Tom's father: When I was young I had to be home before midnight.
Tom: Sicuro, ma le cose sono diverse adesso.

Tom: Sure. But things are different now.
Padre di Tom: Sì, lo so. Ti sei divertito allora?

Tom's father: Yes I know. Did you have a good time then?
Tom: Sì! John ha compiuto 16 anni. Alcuni dei suoi amici lo hanno buttato in piscina!

Tom: Yes! It was John's 16th birthday. Some of his friends threw him into the pool there.
Madre di Tom: Ah, ah! Divertente. Lo facevamo anche noi alla tua età!

Tom's mother: Haha, funny. We did that too when we were your age!
Tom: John non lo ha trovato divertente! Aveva il cellulare nella tasca dei pantaloni.

Tom: John didn't think it was funny. He had his mobile phone in his trouser pocket.
Madre di Tom: Oh, e il telefono si è rotto?

Tom's mother: Oh, was the phone broken?
Tom: Sì. Era davvero arrabbiato!

Tom: Yes. He was really furious!
