Italian prepositions + definite article: le preposizione articolate

When the prepositions a, di, da, in and su are followed by the definite article, they combine with it becoming the so-called preposizioni articolate:

PREPOSIZIONI PROPRIE (ARTICOLATE)
	MASC. SING (+ li / lo)	FEM. SING. (+ la)	MASC. PLUR. (+ i / gli)	FEM. PLUR. (+ le)
di	del / dello	della	dei / degli	delle	of, made of, about, from (the)
a	al / allo	alla	ai / agli	alle	to, in, at (the)
da	dal / dallo	dalla	dai / dagli	dalle	from, to, at, by (the)
in	nel / nello	nella	nei / negli	nelle	in, into, by, on (the)
su	sul / sullo	sulla	sui / sugli	sulle	on, upon (the)

Examples:

Il figlio della nostra cuoca è simpatico. (Our cook's son is nice.)

Ti aspetto al bar. (I'll be waiting for you at the bar.)

Ti ho vista dal finestrino dell'auto. (I saw you from the car window.)

Mettilo nel bagagliaio. (Put it in the boot.)

Il libro è sul mio comodino. (The book is on my beside table.)
