Grammar Lesson 76:

Be' / Beh

The interjection “be’” – also found as “beh” – derives from “bene” / “well”, and is used in conclusions, observations or questions. It translates as “well” – sometimes “and” depending on the context.
It is commonly used in everyday language.

Examples:

Be’ / Beh, alla fine non ne valeva la pena / Well, in the end it was not worth it
Be’ / Beh? Che succede? / And? What’s going on?
Be’ / Beh, scusa se non te l’ho detto! / Well, sorry if I didn’t tell you!
