Move to the Bermudas
Robert: Hallo Wilma! Wie geht's? Ich habe gehört, dass du auf die Bermudas umziehst?
Robert: Hi Wilma! How are you? I heard you are moving to the Bermudas?
Wilma: Hallo Robert. Ja, das stimmt.
Wilma: Hi Robert. Yes, it is true.
Robert: Aber du bist erst vor kurzem nach London gezogen!
Robert: But you just moved to London!
Wilma: Ja ich weiß!
Wilma: Yes I know!
Robert: Und warum gerade die Bermudas?
Robert: So why the Bermudas?
Wilma: Wegen der Firma meines Mannes müssen wir dorthin.
Wilma: We have to go there because of my husband's company.
Robert: Ach so. Warst du schon mal dort?
Robert: I see. Have you been there before?
Wilma: Ja. Es ist sehr schön dort.
Wilma: Yes. It is very beautiful there.
Robert: Das kann ich mir vorstellen. Aber so eine kleine Insel wird bestimmt schnell langweilig.
Robert: I can imagine. But such a small island surely gets boring after a while.
Wilma: Vielleicht ja. Aber ich glaube wir dürfen sowieso nicht länger als 2 oder 3 Jahre bleiben.
Wilma: Maybe yes. But I don't think we are allowed to stay more than 2 or 3 years anyway.
Robert: Ach so. Dein Mann arbeitet immer noch in einer Versicherungsfirma?
Robert: I see. Your husband still works in an insurance company?
Wilma: Ja.
Wilma: Yes.
Robert: Die Bermudas sind ein Steuerparadies, oder?
Robert: The Bermudas are a tax haven, right?
Wilma: Ja, ähnlich wie die Kaimaninseln.
Wilma: Yes, similar to the Cayman Islands.
Robert: Kein Wunder, dass unser Land so verschuldet ist! Keine der großen Firmen will hier Steuern zahlen.
Robert: No wonder our country is so indebted! None of the big companies want to pay taxes here.
Wilma: Ja, leider! Ich muss jetzt leider gehen. Zahnarzttermin!
Wilma: Yes, unfortunately! I have to go now. Dentist appointment!
Robert: Okay Tschüss! Grüsse mir deinen Mann!
Robert: Okay bye! Say hello to your husband!
Wilma: Mache ich! Tschüss!
Wilma: I will! Bye!
