Oliver: Hi Stefan! Wie läuft's?
Oliver: Hi Stefan! How are things?
Stefan: Oh, nicht so gut. Vor einem Monat wurde bei meinem Sohn Diabetes diagnostiziert.
Stefan: Oh, not so good. One month ago my son was diagnosed with diabetes.
Oliver: Tut mir leid, das zu hören. Er ist doch nur 10 Jahre alt!
Oliver: Sorry to hear that. He is only 10 years old!
Stefan: Er ist 12.
Stefan: He is 12.
Oliver: Mein Cousin hat Diabetes. Aber er ist über 40 Jahre alt und übergewichtig.
Oliver: My cousin has diabetes. But he is over 40 and overweight.
Stefan: Mein Sohn hat Typ-1 Diabetes. Dein Cousin hat wahrscheinlich Typ-2 Diabetes.
Stefan: My son has type 1 diabetes. Your cousin probably has type 2 diabetes.
Oliver: Aha. Und wo ist der Unterschied?
Oliver: Right. And what is the difference?
Stefan: Typ-1 Diabetes hat nichts mit mangelnder Bewegung zu tun. Es ist eine Autoimmunerkrankung.
Stefan: Well, type 1 diabetes has nothing to do with lack of exercise. It is an autoimmune disease.
Oliver: Also einfach nur Pech gehabt?
Oliver: So basically just bad luck?
Stefan: Ja. Momentan konzentriere ich mich nur um sein Wohlbefinden.
Stefan: Yes. Right now I'm focusing on helping my son get better.
Oliver: Viel Glück damit. Tschüß!
Oliver: I wish you luck. See you!
Stefan: Tschüß!
Stefan: See you!
