The scam
Rick: Hi Bill, wie geht's?
Rick: Hi Bill, how is it going?
Bill: Oh, nicht so gut.
Bill: Oh, not so good.
Rick: Was ist passiert?
Rick: What happened?
Bill: Oh, vor ein paar Tagen bin ich aus dem Urlaub zurückgekommen und jetzt habe ich gemerkt, dass ich betrogen worden bin.
Bill: Oh, I've come back from holiday a few days ago and now I've realized that I've been scammed.
Rick: Oh, tut mir leid das zu hören. Wie ist das passiert?
Rick: Oh sorry to hear that. How did that happen?
Bill: Nunja, in einem kleinen Hotel haben sie eine Fotokopie meines Führerscheins gemacht. Danach haben sie mich gefragt wie meine Sozialversicherungsnummer lautet. Ich war müde und dumm genug sie herauszugeben.
Bill: Well, in a small hotel they made a photocopy of my driver's license. Afterwards they asked me for my social security number. I was tired and stupid enough to give it to them.
Rick: Oh nein, ein Identitätsdiebstahl?
Rick: Oh no, an identity theft?
Bill: Ja.. naja jetzt habe ich daraus gelernt. Ich habe auch alle meine ungenutzten Kreditkarten gekündigt.
Bill: Yes.. well now I've learned from that. I've cancelled all my unused credit cards as well.
Rick: Das ist wahrscheinlich eine gute Idee!
Rick: That's probably a good idea!
