A visit to the doctor's
"Hallo, Herr Jones. Wie kann ich Ihnen helfen?"
"Hello, Mr. Jones. How can I help you?"
"Als ich heute Morgen aufwachte war ich in Schweiß gebadet und ich zitterte am ganzen Körper. Mir war übel, ich hatte schlimme Kopfschmerzen und etwas Fieber. Ich glaube ich habe eine Grippe."
"When I woke up this morning, I was covered in sweat and my whole body was shaking. I felt nauseous, I had a pounding headache and I had a bit of a fever. I think I have the flu."
"Verstehe. Das hört sich wirklich an wie eine Grippe. Könnten Sie bitte Ihre Schuhe und Ihr Hemd ausziehen, und sich hier hinlegen, damit ich Sie untersuchen kann?"
"I see. That does sound like the flu. Could you please take off your shoes and shirt, and lie here so that I can examine you?"
"Selbstverständlich."
"Of course."
"Ja, Ihr Rachen sieht ein bisschen entzündet aus. Atmen Sie bitte ein und aus. Gut. Sie können sich jetzt wieder anziehen."
"Yes, your throat looks a little inflamed. Breathe in and out, please. Good. You can get dressed now."
"Was stimmt nicht mit mir, Doktor?"
"So what's wrong with me, Doctor?"
"Sie hatten Recht, Herr Jones. Sie haben eine gewöhnliche Erkältung. Ich verschreibe Ihnen diese Medizin, welche Sie bitte dreimal am Tag einnehmen. Ich rate Ihnen auch, dass Sie drei Tage zu Hause bleiben und sich ausruhen."
"You were right, Mr. Jones. You have the common flu. I'm going to prescribe you this medicine, which you must take three times a day. I also want you to stay at home for three days and get plenty of rest."
"Okay, das werde ich tun."
"Yes, I will."
"Bitte melden Sie sich nochmal bei mir, wenn Sie sich in drei Tagen nicht besser fühlen."
"Come back to see me if you don't feel any better in three days."
"Dankeschön, Herr Doktor. Auf Wiedersehen"
"Thank you, Doctor. Goodbye."
