The new scam

David : C'est très drôle, ce qui vient de m'arriver.
David: So funny what just happened to me.
Dan : Qu'est-il arrivé ?
Dan: What happened?
David : Eh bien, je suis allé sur Gumtree.com pour chercher un appartement. Il y avait un appartement disponible très bon marché et très bien situé. Alors j'ai envoyé un e-mail au type et je lui ai demandé si l'appartement était encore disponible.
David: Well, I went to Gumtree.com to look for a flat. There was a really cheap flat in a very central location available. So I emailed the guy and asked if the flat is still available.
Dan : Je parie que c'était une arnaque.
Dan: I bet it was a scam.
David : Oui, exactement. Il m'a dit qu'il habitait à l'étranger et qu'il devait acheter un billet d'avion pour me montrer l'appartement. Il a dit qu'il avait perdu du temps avec d'autres locataires potentiels et qu'il voulait donc un acompte avant de me montrer l'appartement.
David: Yes exactly. He told me that he lives abroad and needs to buy a plane ticket to show me the flat. He said he had wasted time with previous potential tenants and therefore needs a deposit up front before showing me the flat.
Dan : Oui, c'est ça ! Et il voulait cet acompte par "Western Union", pas vrai ?
Dan: Yeah right! And he wanted that deposit through "Western Union" right?
David : Oui ! Impossible de récupérer l'argent si on paie par "Western Union".
David: Yep! There's no way to get the money back if you pay through "Western Union".
Dan : Je me demande si des gens sont vraiment tombés dans le panneau.
Dan: I wonder if people really fall for this scam.
