Oliver: Hi, Stefan! How are things?

Stefan : Oh, pas terrible. Mon fils a été diagnostiqué avec le diabète il y a un mois. Depuis, je me concentre sur son bien-être.

Stefan: Oh, not so good. One month ago my son was diagnosed with diabetes. I have been focusing on his well-being ever since.

Oliver : Désolé de l'apprendre. Il n'a que 10 ans !

Oliver: Sorry to hear that. He is only 10 years old!

Stefan : Il a 12 ans.

Stefan: He is 12.

Oliver : Mon cousin a le diabète. Mais il a plus de 40 ans et il est en surpoids.

Oliver: My cousin has diabetes. But he is over 40 and overweight.

Stefan : Mon fils a le diabète de type 1. Ton cousin a probablement le diabète de type 2.

Stefan: My son has type 1 diabetes. Your cousin probably has type 2 diabetes.

Oliver : Oui. Et quelle est la différence ?

Oliver: Right. And what is the difference?

---

Stefan : Eh bien, le diabète de type 1 n'a rien à voir avec le manque d'exercice. C'est une maladie auto-immune.

Stefan: Well, type 1 diabetes has nothing to do with lack of exercise. It is an autoimmune disease.

Oliver : Pas de chance, en fait ?

Oliver: So basically just bad luck?

---

Stefan : C'est ça. En ce moment, je me concentre pour aider mon fils à aller mieux.

Stefan: Yes. Right now I'm focusing on helping my son get better.

Oliver : Bonne chance. Salut !

Oliver: I wish you luck. See you!

Stefan : Salut !

Stefan: See you!
