The birthday party
(Les parents de Tom prennent le petit-déjeuner. Tom entre dans la cuisine.)
(Tom's parents are having breakfast. Tom enters the kitchen.)
La mère de Tom : Bonjour, Tom ! Il est presque midi ! Quand es-tu rentré de la fête ?
Tom's mother: Good morning, Tom! It's almost midday! When did you get back from the party?
Tom : Je ne sais pas trop. Je crois qu'il était deux heures du matin. La fête était géniale.
Tom: Not sure. I think about 2 a.m. It was a great party.
Le père de Tom : Quand j'étais jeune, je devais rentrer avant minuit.
Tom's father: When I was young, I had to be home before midnight.
Tom : Oui. Mais les choses ont changé.
Tom: Sure. But things are different now.
Le père de Tom : Oui, je sais. Alors, est-ce que tu t'es bien amusé ?
Tom's father: Yes, I know. Did you have a good time then?
Tom : Oui ! C'était les 16 ans de John. Des amis à lui l'ont jeté dans la piscine.
Tom: Yes! It was John's 16th birthday. Some of his friends threw him into the pool there.
La mère de Tom : Haha, c'est drôle. On faisait ça aussi, quand on avait ton âge !
Tom's mother: Haha, funny. We did that too when we were your age!
Tom : John n'a pas trouvé ça drôle. Il avait son téléphone portable dans la poche de son pantalon.
Tom: John didn't think it was funny. He had his mobile phone in his trouser pocket.
La mère de Tom : Oh, le téléphone était-il cassé ?
Tom's mother: Oh, was the phone broken?
Tom : Oui. Il était vraiment furieux !
Tom: Yes. He was really furious!
