More snow

Het was een rampjaar voor de boeren.

It was a disastrous year for the farmers.

Het bleef maar sneeuwen en de overheid moest ingrijpen en helpen.

The snow fell and fell until the government had to step in and help.

"Het moet verschrikkelijk zijn geweest", zei de ambtenaar tegen een boer. "Al die sneeuw."

"It must have been terrible," said the government official to a farmer. "All that snow."

"Had erger kunnen zijn. Mijn buurman had meer sneeuw dan ik.", antwoordde de boer kalm.

"Could have been worse. My neighbor had more snow than I," answered the farmer calmly.

"Hoe kwam dat?", vroeg de ambtenaar.

"How come?" asked the government official.

"Meer land", antwoordde de boer.

"More land," replied the farmer.
