Een oude dame zegt:"Weet je, ik word echt vergeetachtig. Vanmorgen stond ik boven aan de trap en kon ik me niet herinneren of ik net naar boven was gegaan of dat ik naar beneden wilde."
One lady says, "You know, I'm getting really forgetful. This morning, I was standing at the top of the stairs, and I couldn't remember whether I had just come up or was about to go down."
De tweede dame zegt:"Je vindt dat erg? Ik zat laatst op de rand van mijn bed en kon me niet herinneren of ik ging slapen of dat ik net wakker was geworden!"
The second lady says, "You think that's bad? The other day, I was sitting on the edge of my bed, and I couldn't remember whether I was going to sleep or had just woken up!"
De derde dame lacht zelfvoldaan.
The third lady smiles smugly.
"Mijn geheugen is nog net zo goed als vroeger, even afkloppen", zegt ze terwijl ze op de tafel klopt.
"Well, my memory is just as good as it's always been, knock on wood," she says as she raps on the table.
En met een verschrikte blik vraagt ze: "Wie is daar?"
Then with a startled look on her face, she asks, "Who's there?"
