Move to the Bermudas
Robert: "Hallo Wilma! Hoe gaat het? Ik heb gehoord dat je naar Bermuda gaat verhuizen."
Robert: Hi Wilma! How are you? I heard you are moving to the Bermudas?
Wilma: "Hallo Robert. Ja, dat is waar."
Wilma: Hi Robert. Yes, it is true.
Robert: "Maar je bent net naar Londen verhuisd!"
Robert: But you just moved to London!
Wilma: "Ja, weet ik!"
Wilma: Yes I know!
Robert: "Dus waarom Bermuda?"
Robert: So why the Bermudas?
Wilma: "We moeten daar naartoe vanwege het bedrijf van mijn man."
Wilma: We have to go there because of my husband's company.
Robert: "Ik begrijp het. Werkt je man nog steeds bij dat verzekeringsbedrijf?"
Robert: I see. Your husband still works in that insurance company?
Wilma: "Ja."
Wilma: Yes.
Robert: "Ben je eerder in Bermuda geweest?"
Robert: Have you been to the Bermudas before?
Wilma: "Ja. Het is daar heel mooi."
Wilma: Yes. It is very beautiful there.
Robert: "Dat kan ik me voorstellen. Maar zo'n klein eiland gaat na een tijdje waarschijnlijk vervelen."
Robert: I can imagine. But such a small island probably gets boring after a while.
Wilma: "Misschien, ja. Maar ik denk dat we niet langer mogen blijven dan 2 of 3 jaar."
Wilma: Maybe yes. But I don't think we are allowed to stay more than 2 or 3 years anyway.
Robert: "Bermuda is toch een belastingparadijs? Ik denk dat het bedrijf van je man op belastingen wil besparen."
Robert: The Bermudas are a tax haven right? I guess your husband's company wants to save taxes.
Wilma: "Daar lijkt het wel op."
Wilma: It seems so yes.
Robert: "Geen van de grote bedrijven wil hier belasting betalen. Geen wonder dat ons land zoveel schulden heeft!"
Robert: None of the big companies want to pay taxes here. No wonder our country is so indebted!
Wilma: "Ja, jammer genoeg! Ik moet nu gaan. Afspraak bij de tandarts!"
Wilma: Yes, unfortunately! I have to go now. Dentist appointment!
Robert: "Oké, tot ziens! Doe de groeten aan je man!"
Robert: Okay bye! Say hello to your husband!
Wilma: "Zal ik doen! Tot ziens!"
Wilma: I will! Bye!
