Irish road bowling
Dirk: "Hallo Mel. Wat ben je aan het doen?"
Dirk: Hi Mel. What's up?
Melanie: "Niet veel. En jij?"
Melanie: Not much. And you?
Dirk: "Ik heb naar een documentaire over Ierland gekeken."
Dirk: I watched a documentary about Ireland.
Melanie: "Was het interessant?"
Melanie: Was it interesting?
Dirk: "Ja. Het was over 'Iers Road Bowling', dat bestaat al heel lang."
Dirk: Yes. It was about "Irish Road Bowling", which has been around for ages.
Melanie: "Bowlen op de weg? Dat is ongewoon."
Melanie: Bowling in the road? That's unusual.
Dirk: "Jazeker."
Dirk: Yes, it is.
Melanie: "Hoe werkt het?"
Melanie: How does it work?
Dirk: "Het lijkt eigenlijk op golfen. De deelnemers gooien een bal langs een landweg en degene die met de minste worpen de afstand aflegt, wint de wedstrijd."
Dirk: It's actually similar to golf. The participants throw a ball along a country road and the person with the fewest throws to traverse the distance wins the contest.
Melanie: "Ik begrijp het. Klinkt wel leuk."
Melanie: I see. Sounds like fun.
Dirk: "Hallo Mel. Wat ben je aan het doen?"
Dirk: Hi Mel. What's up?
Melanie: "Niet veel. En jij?"
Melanie: Not much. And you?
