Sudden changes
Thomas: "Hallo Jack!"
Thomas: Hi Jack!
Jack: "Hallo Thomas! Hoe gaat het?"
Jack: Hi Thomas! How is it going?
Thomas: "Goed, dank je. En jij? Ik heb je niet meer in de sportschool gezien. Doe je nog steeds aan bodybuilding?"
Thomas: Good thanks. And you? Haven't seen you at the gym anymore. Are you still doing bodybuilding?
Jack: "Nee, ik ben gestopt. Ik heb de laatste tijd niet zoveel tijd."
Jack: No I stopped. I haven't had much time lately.
Thomas: "Echt? Of ben je misschien gewoon lui?"
Thomas: Really? Or maybe just lazy?
Jack: "Nee, ik heb het echt erg druk sinds ik een promotie gehad heb."
Jack: No, I'm just really busy since I've been promoted.
Thomas: "Ik begrijp het. Maar weet je dat je ernstige hartproblemen kunt krijgen als je plotseling stopt met sporten?"
Thomas: I see. But you do know that you can get serious heart problems if you suddenly stop exercising?
Jack: "Ja, dat weet ik. Daarom heb ik halters gekocht, zodat ik thuis kan trainen."
Jack: Yes I know. That's why I bought some dumbbells so I can train at home.
Thomas: "Goed. Het lichaam gaat niet goed om met plotselinge veranderingen."
Thomas: Good. The body doesn't cope well with sudden changes.
Jack: "Ja, het is hetzelfde met alcohol. Mijn oom Erik was een beetje een alcoholist. Op een dag besloot hij plotseling om helemaal te stoppen met drinken omdat zijn vrouw dreigde van hem te scheiden."
Jack: Yes, it's the same with alcohol. My uncle Erik was a bit of an alcoholic. One day he suddenly decided to completely stop drinking, because his wife threatened to divorce him.
Thomas: "En wat gebeurde er?"
Thomas: And what happened?
Jack: "Zijn lichaam reageerde met een shock door de plotselinge onthouding. Hij was bijna gestorven in het ziekenhuis."
Jack: His body went into shock from the sudden withdrawal. He almost died in the hospital.
Thomas: "Wow, echt?"
Thomas: Wow, really?
Jack: "Ja. Maar nu is hij nuchter."
Jack: Yes. But he's sober now.
Thomas: "Goed om te weten. Ik moet nu gaan. En gefeliciteerd met je promotie!"
Thomas: Good to know. Anyway got to go now. And congratulations for your promotion!
Jack: "Bedankt. Pas goed op jezelf!"
Jack: Thanks. Take care!
