A visit to the doctor
Ricardo: "Hallo, kan ik vandaag een afspraak met de dokter maken?"
Ricardo: Hello. Could I make an appointment with the doctor today?
Receptioniste: "Wat is uw naam?"
Receptionist: What is your name?
Ricardo: "Mijn naam is Ricardo González."
Ricardo: My name is Ricardo González.
Receptioniste: "Waarover wilt u de dokter spreken?"
Receptionist: In regard to what health issue are you calling?
Ricardo: "Ik heb pijn bij het plassen."
Ricardo: There is some pain when I pass water.
Receptioniste: "Oké, u kunt om 17.35 uur komen."
Receptionist: OK, please come at 5.35pm.
(Ricardo komt bij de praktijk van de dokter.)
(Ricardo arrives at the doctor's office.)
Ricardo: "Hallo, ik ben Ricardo. Ik heb om 17.35 een afspraak."
Ricardo: Hello, my name is Ricardo. I've an appointment at 5.35pm.
Receptioniste: "Oké, de dokter komt u zo halen."
Receptionist: OK the doctor will be ready for you soon.
(Ricardo wacht 10 minuten en wordt dan binnen geroepen.)
(Ricardo waits 10 minutes and is called to the doctor's office.)
Dokter: "Ga alstublieft zitten. Wat kan ik voor u doen?"
Doctor: Please sit down. How can I help you?
Ricardo: "Drie dagen geleden had ik wat koorts en had ik pijn bij het plassen. Ik dacht dat het beter zou gaan maar gisteren kon ik niet slapen vanwege de pijn in mijn liesstreek."
Ricardo: Three days ago I had a bit of fever and passing water was painful. I thought it would get better but yesterday I couldn't sleep because of the pain in my groin area.
Dokter: "Zit er bloed in de urine?"
Doctor: Is there blood in the urine?
Ricardo: "Nee."
Ricardo: No there isn't.
Dokter: "Het lijkt erop dat u een urinewegontsteking heeft. Ik geef u antibiotica mee, het heet Trimethoprim. U moet het tweemaal per dag innemen, een week lang."
Doctor: It seems you have an urinary tract infection. I'll prescribe you this antibiotic called Trimethoprim. Take it twice a day for one week.
Ricardo: "Prima!"
Ricardo: All right!
Dokter: "U moet het een hele week slikken, zelfs als u zich al eerder beter voelt."
Doctor: Make sure to keep taking it for a full week, even if you feel better before that.
Ricardo: "Dank u, dokter. Tot ziens!"
Ricardo: Thank you doctor. Bye!
Dokter: "Tot ziens."
Doctor: Goodbye.
