Simon: Oh, it was nice. Finally met my wife's parents.

Reinier: "Geweldig! Ze wonen op het platteland, nietwaar?"

Reinier: Brilliant! They live in the countryside, right?

Simon: "Ja, in Isan in het noordoosten van Thailand."

Simon: Yes, in Isan in the northeast of Thailand.

Reinier: "Daar was zeker niet veel te doen?"

Reinier: Not much to do there I suppose?

Simon: "Het was erg interessant. We zijn op kikkerjacht geweest."

Simon: It was interesting. We went frog hunting.

Reinier: "Echt? Waarom?"

Reinier: Really? What for?

Simon: "Ze eten de kikkers. Sommige kikkers waren erg groot!"

Simon: They eat the frogs. Some of these frogs were quite big!

Reinier: "Oh, die arme kikkers. Heb jij ze ook gegeten?"

Reinier: Oh, the poor frogs. Did you eat them too?

Simon: "Nee, ik kon ze echt niet eten."

Simon: No, I really couldn't eat them.
