Insect Radical

The 虫-radical is used by many insect related words. Also other "creeping animals" such as reptiles, insects, worms, amphibians and shellfish.

Some examples containing 虫:

蟑 (zhang1) = cockroach
蟹 (xie4) = crab
蛇 (she2) = snake
蛆 (qu1) = maggot
蚤 (zao3) = flea
蚊 (wen2) = mosquito
蟻 / 蚁 (yi3) = ant
虱 (shi1) = louse
蝦 / 虾 (xia1) = shrimp, prawn
