Grammar Lesson 17:

Comparison with 跟

With 跟 (gēn) and 一样 (yí yàng) you can compare two things.
一样 means "the same".

To say that two things are the same:

For example:

紐約跟倫敦一樣熱鬧。
纽约跟伦敦一样热闹。
nǐu yuē gēn lún dūn yí yàng rè nào.
New York is as bustling as London.

To say that two things are not the same simply add 不 (bù):

A 不跟 B 一样 (+ adjective)

我做事的方式不跟別人一樣。

Wǒ zuò shì de fāng shì bù gēn bíe rén yí yàng.
The way that I act is not the same as anyone else.
