Neuter nouns

There are three genders in the Russian language: masculine, feminine, and neuter (neutral).

If there is "е" or "о" at the end of the noun, it is neuter.


Examples of neuter nouns:

окружение (environment) (ends with е)
затемнение (blackout) (ends with е)
убежище (shelter) (ends with е)
достоинство (dignity) (ends with о)
дежурство (duty) (ends with о)
