Ian organizou uma festa para comemorar o seu 30º aniversário e convidou todos os seus amigos.
Ian has organized a party for his 30th birthday and invited all his friends.
Sally e Eddie se encontram pela primeira vez e conversam sobre trabalho.
Sally and Eddie meet the first time and talk about their jobs.
Eddie: Como você conhece o Ian?
Eddie: How do you know Ian?
Sally: Eu trabalho na mesma empresa que ele.
Sally: I work in the same company as him.
Eddie: Sei. O que você faz lá?
Eddie: I see. What exactly do you do there?
Sally: Basicamente eu trabalho lá como secretária. E o que você faz?
Sally: Basically I work there as a secretary. And what is your job?
Eddie: Eu trabalhava como salva-vidas na Austrália, mas agora trabalho em um pub aqui em Londres.
Eddie: I've worked as a lifeguard in Australia. But now I'm working in a pub here in London.
Sally: Por que você saiu de um emprego tão legal? Passar o dia relaxando na praia.
Sally: Why did you give up such a cool job? Just chilling out on the beach all day.
Eddie: Não é super relaxante! É muita responsabilidade.
Eddie: It's not really relaxing! You have a lot of responsibility.
Sally: Mesmo?
Sally: Really?
Eddie: Às vezes pode ser bem estressante. Uma pessoa quando está afogando não age como nos filmes de Hollywood.
Eddie: At times it can be quite stressful. A drowning person doesn't act as in Hollywood movies.
Sally: Entendo.
Sally: I see.
Eddie: Geralmente quando uma pessoa está afogando ela não tem mais energia para pedir ajuda ou acenar. Então você precisa estar sempre alerta.
Eddie: Normally a drowning person doesn't have the energy anymore to call for help or wave. So you always need to be alert.
Sally: Entendo. Então você prefere trabalhar em um pub?
Sally: I see. So you prefer working in a pub?
Eddie: É estressante às vezes também, mas eu queria fazer algo diferente por uns tempos.
Eddie: It can be stressful too, but I wanted to do something different for a while.
Sally: Em que pub você trabalha?
Sally: In which pub are you working?
Eddie: É um pub no centro de Londres, próximo à Praça Leicester.
Eddie: It's a pub in central London near Leicester Square.
Eddie anota o endereço do pub e Sally promete aparecer por lá.
Eddie writes down the address of the pub and Sally promises to drop by.
