The birthday party
(Os pais de Tom estão tomando café da manhã. Tom entra na cozinha).
(Tom's parents are having breakfast. Tom enters the kitchen.)
Mãe de Tom: Bom dia Tom! Já é quase meio-dia! Que horas você voltou da festa?
Tom's mother: Good morning Tom! It's almost midday! When did you get back from the party?
Tom: Não tenho certeza. Acho que umas 2 da manhã. A festa foi ótima.
Tom: Not sure. I think about 2 a.m. It was a great party.
Pai de Tom: Quando eu era jovem eu tinha que chegar em casa antes da meia-noite.
Tom's father: When I was young I had to be home before midnight.
Tom: Claro, mas as coisas são diferentes agora.
Tom: Sure. But things are different now.
Pai de Tom: Sim, eu sei. Você se divertiu então?
Tom's father: Yes I know. Did you have a good time then?
Tom: Sim! Foi o aniversário de 16 anos do John. Alguns dos seus amigos o jogaram na piscina.
Tom: Yes! It was John's 16th birthday. Some of his friends threw him into the pool there.
Mãe de Tom: Rá rá, engraçado. Nós fizemos isso também quando tínhamos a sua idade.
Tom's mother: Haha, funny. We did that too when we were your age!
Tom: O John não achou engraçado. O celular dele estava no bolso da calça.
Tom: John didn't think it was funny. He had his mobile phone in his trouser pocket.
Mãe de Tom: Ah, o celular quebrou?
Tom's mother: Oh, was the phone broken?
Tom: Sim. Ele ficou furioso!
Tom: Yes. He was really furious!
